HaLong Taxi

9x11 Framed 3D artwork consists of paper.

While we were in Vietnam, we took a tour in Hanoi's Ha Long Bay. We were amazed to see the method of taxiing people around the bay were nothing more than these old women in some small boats. There were several dozens of these boats, each boat would have one or two women that would take 1-4 tourists. They would row for 2-hours taking you through the wondrous sites of the bay and only earning a few dollars in tip. Most of these old women would only get to work twice a year to make their income. And the way these women would get selected to work was through a lottery system. So, this is our tribute to the hard-working "taxi" in Ha Long Bay.
